About Ready Systems
Ready Systems is a powerhouse in specialized industrial automation, assembly solutions, and advanced material handling. Operating since 2007, we design and integrate complex conveyor systems, robotics, and PLC platforms across North America and Europe, with a dominant niche leadership in the high-stakes automotive seating vertical.
Why Join Ready
At Ready Systems, our goal is to be an ecosystem that makes us the preferred destination for the professionals we seek to hire. We strive to be a scalable, no B-S, organization built on repeatable, data-driven processes. We are looking for a high-performing PMO Manager who thrives in a “Player-Coach” capacity while we scale.
About the Role
Location: Burlington, ON
Role Type: Flexible, in office preferred
As the PMO Manager, you will serve as a critical layer of structured leadership, reporting directly to the General Manager. You will be responsible for defining and enforcing the project management standard across our Canadian and US operations while actively managing a portfolio of your own projects.
This role balances tactical project delivery with strategic governance. You will coach and mentor two Project Managers, champion system integrity within our Total ETO integrated platform, and lead proactive “margin defense” to prevent downstream scope creep and project erosion.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic PMO Leadership & Governance (The Coach)
- Establish the Project Standard: Define, implement, and maintain standardized project governance frameworks that replace subjective “gut feelings” with objective milestones.
- Team Leadership: Actively mentor, manage, and coach a team of two Project Managers, evaluating performance metrics and standardizing international project delivery expectations.
- Margin Defense & Revenue Recognition: Work alongside the Finance Director/Controller to build and audit Work in Progress (WIP) schedules, ensuring effort directly aligns with ASC 606/IFRS 15 revenue recognition principles.
- Silo Elimination: Standardize operational handoffs and sales-to-engineering transitions (via formal Purchase Order Acceptance meetings) across regional facilities to guarantee a seamless customer experience.
Core Project Management Execution (The Player)
- End-to-End Lifecycle Delivery: Personally execute the full project lifecycle for varying size, and complexity, automation projects—from initial scope alignment to final commissioning.
- Change Management & Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and resolve project “losers” early; draft and negotiate formal change orders to shield project profit margins from toxic friction and scope creep.
- Supply Chain Coordination: Optimize cash outflows by aligning supplier payment milestones (for major robotics and controls components from partners like Fanuc, ABB, Rockwell, and Siemens) with customer milestone deposits.
- Client Management: Act as the primary, senior relationship lead for Tier 1 automotive clients, navigating complex Equipment Purchase Agreements (EPAs) and payment compliance terms.
Data Integrity & Reporting (The Leader)
- Single Source of Truth: Enforce complete data entry compliance within Total ETO, ensuring project managers and engineers accurately log hours, invoices, and purchase orders.
- Executive Reporting: Present real-time project health, erosion metrics, and resource capacity constraints directly to the General Manager and Owners during weekly TLC alignment meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Post-secondary degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics) or a related technical business field.
- Experience: 7+ years of progressive project management experience within industrial automation, custom machinery manufacturing, or systems integration.
- Leadership: Minimum 2+ years of experience formally leading, mentoring, or directly supervising project management professionals.
- Credentials: PMP certification or equivalent professional designation is a strong asset.
- Systems Expertise: Hands-on proficiency with integrated enterprise resource planning platforms (Total ETO or equivalent) and advanced data metrics tracking.
- Travel: Ability to travel occasionally across North America for customer site visits, buy-offs, or commissioning loops (approx. 2–4 days per month).
Compensation & Benefits
- $140,000 – $165,000
- Performance-linked bonuses aligned with the corporate strategy roadmap.
- Company-sponsored pension
- Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and retirement matching benefits.
- Paid travel and expenses.
- Opportunities for leadership development in a growing, innovation-focused company
Physical & Safety Tasks
All applicants must be able to perform the following tasks as part of their player-coach operational responsibilities:
- Walk up to 5 km per day during manufacturing floor oversight and plant walkthroughs.
- Stand and work at heights or navigate tight operational environments during commissioning phases.
- React quickly to visual and auditory factory alerts.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety footwear, safety eyewear, vests, and high-visibility gear during site visits.
